Supports and Services

The Institute for Better Health (IBH) supports research and innovation within and beyond the walls of the hospital to create and study new ways to meet Trillium Health Partners’ (THP) goals of quality, access, and sustainability. By providing research and innovation expertise and administrative supports across the organization, IBH enables, stewards, provides oversite and minimizes risk for research and innovation activities at the frontlines of care at THP and in our community.

IBH offers a variety of supports and services to advance research and innovation within the walls of THP and beyond to staff, professional staff and learners:

Research Operations

Research Operations provides a wide range of services, including:

Research feasibility consultations
Grants and awards management
Research agreement negotiation
Research/innovation study budget and financial management

This area is also responsible for establishing and maintaining THP’s research-related policies and procedures, providing compliance training and oversight, and supporting the functioning of the THP Research Ethics Board.

Research Project Management

Research Project Management provides access to high calibre Research Associates, project management expertise and tools to support research and innovation projects and activities. Rather than undergoing a lengthy external hiring process, researchers can request support from a Research Associate through IBH. This service follows a pay-for-use model that researchers will cover through their project budget and includes:

Grant writing
Protocol development and consent forms
Recruitment and participant consent
Data collection
Literature searches and reviews
Study specific assessments
Coordinate clinical research and study logins
Timelines and budgets

ResearchFinance

Research Finance provides support in project budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling, including overall financial stewardship of IBH and research and innovation at THP, including:

Management and tracking of actual expenses against budgeted expenses
Study forecasting and budgeting
Preparing financial reports and financial statements
Projection and financial modelling for multi-year projects

Research Consultation Service
