Senior Scientist

Biography
Driven by his passion for transforming the health care system, meaningful, impactful and scalable solutions, Dr. Walter Wodchis is Senior Scientist and inaugural Research Chair in Implementation and Evaluation Science at the Institute for Better Health. An internationally recognized scientist in health economics, financing, policy evaluation and integrated care, Dr. Wodchis is leading and informing the development, implementation and evaluation of scalable solutions that improve health system integration and performance. As a collaboration between THP and the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dr. Wodchis will be advancing and leading research to inform health system organization, delivery and resourcing for Mississauga and beyond.

Dr. Mathias Gysler Research Chair in Patient and Family Centred Care
Scientist

Biography
Dr. Kerry Kuluski is the inaugural Dr. Mathias Gysler Research Chair in Patient & Family Centred Care and Scientist at the Institute for Better Health, and Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (University of Toronto). She is an Applied Health Services Researcher and a Social Worker by training. She received her PhD in Health Services and Policy Research from the University of Toronto followed by a Postdoctoral Visiting Fellowship at the University of Oxford. At the U of T she supervises graduate students, teaches the foundational course on Canada’s health care system and is designing curriculum on patient engagement.

Biography
Dr. Laura Rosella, is an epidemiologist and Associate Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, where she holds a Canada Research Chair in Population Health Analytics. She is the inaugural Stephen Family Research Chair in Community Health and an Affiliate Scientist at the Institute of Better Health at Trillium Health Partners and holds scientific appointments at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence and ICES, including as Site Director for ICES U of T. Her research interests include population health, population-based risk tools to support public health planning and public health policy. Notably, Dr. Rosella was recently awarded the Brian MacMahon Early Career Epidemiology Award by the Society for Epidemiologic Research and was named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.

Biography
Dr. Robert Reid is the inaugural Hazel McCallion Research Chair in Learning Health Systems, Chief Scientist at the Institute for Better Health (IBH) and Senior Vice President of Science at Trillium Health Partners (THP). As one of the largest community hospital systems in Canada with a diverse and growing population, THP’s mission is to create a new kind of health care for a healthier community. IBH, THP’s embedded research and innovation engine, focuses on generating cutting-edge science and innovation on novel ways to engage, design, deliver and finance health care, and on creating partnerships with patients, caregivers and our community in the pursuit of improving population health.
