Driven by his passion for transforming the health care system, meaningful, impactful and scalable solutions, Dr. Walter Wodchis is Senior Scientist and inaugural Research Chair in Implementation and Evaluation Science at the Institute for Better Health (IBH).

An internationally recognized scientist in health economics, financing, policy evaluation and integrated care, Dr. Wodchis is leading and informing the development, implementation and evaluation of scalable solutions that improve health system integration and performance. As a collaboration between Trillium Health Partners (THP) and the University of Toronto (U of T) Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dr. Wodchis will be advancing and leading research to inform health system organization, delivery and resourcing for Mississauga and beyond.

As Principal Investigator for the Health System Performance Network (HSPN), Dr. Wodchis is influencing the design of the Ontario health care system by evaluating the effects of a newly emerging health system model called Ontario Health Teams. The focus of Dr. Wodchis’ research also includes new knowledge regarding the development and effects of having multiple chronic conditions on patient health needs and health care system costs.

In addition to his position at IBH, Dr. Wodchis is a Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the U of T and an Adjunct Scientist at ICES.
