Deborah Scharf, PhD (University of Pittsburgh, 2009) is a clinical and health psychologist, registered for autonomous practice with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Dr. Scharf’s research is designed to improve mental health and addiction delivery systems through innovations in clinical quality measurement, training, service, finance, and policy. This has included studies of integrated care for complex and underserved populations such as adults with serious mental illness, cancer and comorbidities, and research to improve care systems for injured workers and veterans. Dr. Scharf’s other research uses in vivo electronic data capture methods to study tobacco, alcohol, and cannabis use among youth. As a principal or co-principal investigator, Dr. Scharf has received more than $4.5 million PI/co-PI research support from Canadian and US funders, and her work is described in more than 80 academic papers and published research reports. Dr. Scharf’s previous academic appointments were at the University of Pittsburgh, Lakehead University, and the RAND Corporation. She is delighted to bring her passions for research and clinical work to the Trillium Health Partners team.
