Dr. Marissa Bird is a Registered Nurse and Learning Health System Scientist at the Institute for Better Health, Trillium Health Partners. Her research investigates upstream enablers of learning in health care including system conditions, organizational cultures, and workforce capabilities. Dr. Bird uses mixed and multi-methods research to investigate enabling environments for Learning Health Systems, including investigating how organizational culture, knowledge and capacity building, data, governance and policy, and funding shape learning processes and improvement outcomes across multiple levels of the health system. Dr. Bird is co-founder and co-lead of the Learning Health Hub and an Assistant Professor, Affiliated Scientist at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. She is an AMS Fellow in Compassion and Artificial Intelligence and a CIHR Health System Impact Embedded Early Career Researcher.
