Aliya Allen-Valley is a Research Associate III at the Institute for Better Health. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Joint Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Development Studies from McGill University. Some of her previous research has focused on analyzing existing barriers and efforts to advance racial equity in Ontario’s child and youth mental health sector and using community-based methods to track COVID-19 related rumors to support the development and implementation of relevant social and behaviour change interventions. Her interests surround the improvement of healthcare services both here in Ontario and globally, including a focus on maternal and reproductive health outcomes across the Caribbean region. She is passionate about health equity and improving access to safe and appropriate care for equity-deserving groups.
